The Hawaii Regional Service Committee (HRSC) met virtually on Saturday, April 4, 2020. The HRSC discussed the current COVID-19 emergency and its effect on physical face-to-face meetings.
It was decided that a statement of clarification should be made to assist NA Groups in deciding if they should meet face-to-face.
The Hawaii State Governor issued an emergency proclamation that orders citizens to stay at home or place of residence until April 30, 2020:
Unfortunately this proclamation means the closure of NA meetings across the State of Hawaii.
The majority of NA meetings in Hawaii are now being conducted in the virtual world. We list our virtual meetings here on this page: A List of Virtual Meetings in Hawaii
We want to remind the Fellowship of our Fourth Tradition, which states:
Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other groups or NA as a whole.
Groups choosing to meet under these circumstances affect NA in Hawaii as a whole.
We ask that NA members consider the effect conducting a face-to-face meeting will have on our members’ health and safety and on our public relations.
We ask that members continue to practice safe behaviors as requested by the State and Federal government health directives. We are striving to be socially responsible members of society.
